64 thousand dollars in fines have been imposed on helicopter tour operators? after a fatal crash

28-year-old Queenstown pilot, Mitch Gameren, and six-tourists died in an Alpine Adventures scenic helicopter crash - at Fox Glacier more than three years ago.
Helicopter tour operator, James Scott and organisational systems manager, Barry Waterland faced charges under the Health and Safety Act.
Judge Kevin Philips ruled ordered Scott to pay 64-thousand dollars, and Waterland escaped fees - because he hasn't the financial means to pay.
Judge Philips says the company's operating failures didn't cause the crash it was a result of tragedy.
Scott has already voluntarily paid 155-thousand dollars to each of the victim's families.
