Ta'avao will play his 100th Super Rugby game when he runs out against the Blues at Eden Park this evening.
But he says it may never have happened without Cooper.
Ta'avao says he nearly gave up on the game, when he was cut from the Waratahs squad in 2017.
He says at that point Cooper made sure he came and played under him in Taranaki and then followed him to the Chiefs a year later.
