The Highlanders have paid the price for a heavy penalty count in their 38-29 Super Rugby loss to the Lions in Johannesburg
19 May 2019
The Southerners conceded 12 penalties to the Lions three, and were forced to make 41 more tackles than their opposition.
Highlanders assistant coach Glenn Delaney says their ill-discipline was spread across the board and not just in one area.
Delaney says it does make it difficult and the Lions had 60 percent of possession too so it was difficult.
Meanwhile, the Crusaders have drawn 19-all with the Stormers in Cape Town and the Blues have broken a 17-game winless run against the Chiefs, winning 23-8 in Auckland.
