Police have named the man - who has been missing since Friday afternoon - as 29-year-old Daniel McLellan-Skeggs, from Christchurch.
The Dive Squad has been scouring the Taramakau River since the jetboat flipped carrying two people.
The other occupant was safely rescued.
Police say there is no active search today and it will be reassessed tomorrow.
