The NRL's hierarchy has reminded referees they don't need to warn teams before a sin binning

The NRL's hierarchy has reminded referees they don't need to warn teams before a sin binning

Head of football Graham Annesley has sent referees boss Bernard Sutton the message as the competition continues to see teams give away intentional and cynical penalties when defending their try line.

The penalties allow sides to re-set their defence and entice their opposition into taking a penalty-goal instead of pushing for a try.

Annesley says a warning allows players a license to breach rules up until the time they get a warning.
