Health Minister David Clark says newborns and children are the priority for cochlear implant funding

It comes after figures from the Southern Cochlear Implant Programme show nearly 200 adults will never hear again, unless funding is increased.
Clark says top of the list are those with the greatest need and ability to benefit.
He says some funding has been moved to provide another 24 implants, but taking money from other services isn't a long term fix.
The Ministry is meeting with advocates to hear their concerns and discuss more sustainable solutions.
