A former District Court judge is heading Canterbury's earthquake tribunal

Justice Minister Andrew Little officially opened of the Canterbury Earthquakes Insurance Tribunal this morning.

He says Chris Somerville is chairing the tribunal - bringing experience in insurance law and mediation expertise.

Little says it will be a human and accommodating process, giving a better chance of resolution to difficult earthquake insurance claims.
