Three Auckland projects may cause embarassment if not finished for 2021 America's Cup
It'll be embarassing if three key projects in Auckland aren't ready in time for the America's Cup in March 2021
20 June 2019
They are the replacement Te Wero bridge and the Downtown Public Space at the west end of Quay Street.
Another pedestrian plaza in front of Britomart Station may only be half-ready.
Auckland Business Chamber chief executive Michael Barnett says it would be a bad look for Auckland.
He says it would clearly demonstrate that we're not capable of sticking to deadlines or completing major projects.
A final decision on whether to delay Te Wero bridge will be made in August.
Auckland Transport denies that the Downtown Public Space won't be complete in time.
