Greenhouse gas emissions are decreasing worldwide, but our figures are less rosy, with Stats NZ figures showing our household emissions have increased almost 20 percent in the past 10 years

Greenhouse gas emissions are decreasing worldwide, but our figures are less rosy, with Stats NZ figures showing our household emissions have increased almost 20 percent in the past 10 years

Our overall emissions show a modest 0.9 percent decrease, because industry has offset the household and transport rises.

Households now account for 11 percent and dairy farming for 20 percent of the country's total emissions.

Otago University Climate, finance expert Ivan Diaz-Rainey says, New Zealand isn't living up to its clean green image.
