Some of the clearest evidence yet that New Zealand is making the switch away from standalone homes

Building consent figures have reached their highest point in 45 years.
That's largely due to a number of new townhouse and flat developments being planned in Auckland and Waikato.
JMI Wealth director Andrew Kelleher says in the past year, there's been a clear change in the type of housing the market wants.
Consents for townhouses, flats and units have spiked up six-percent, while consents for standalones are up just 1.6-percent.
