Hundreds of people have been contacted as health officials track measles in Wellington
16 July 2019
There have been 16 recorded cases of measles in Wellington this year - the most recent being an infectious person who travelled on a flight from Auckland to the capital.
The infected include seven women and nine men with an average age of 23.
Medical Officer of Health Dr Craig Thornley says it's been a big workload following up people who may've been exposed.
He says the number of people they've identified by name is in the hundreds and they're confident they've followed it up closely.
Dr Thornley says the concern is now around imported cases - when people travel from other places with high infection.
