Firefighters in chemical suits helped decontaminate a worker injured in an acid spill a Christchurch gelatine plant

Emergency Services were called to the Woolston's Gelita factory just before 3pm.

One person suffering chemical burns was taken to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.

Gelita has had issues with chemical leaks before - with a large part of the plant burning down early last year after a spill.
