    A big jolt has given some Christchurch residents a shock on their children's first day back at school



    The 3.9 magnitude earthquake was just seven kilometres deep and located within five kilometres of the city

    Katrina is in Halswell and says she thought it was a prank at first.

    She says she'd put her grandson in the car to take him to school - when it started rocking backwards and forwards.
