An earthquake forecast shows this morning's wobble might not be Canterbury's last this year

An earthquake forecast shows this morning's wobble might not be Canterbury's last this year

More than five thousand people have reported feeling a 3.9 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch this morning.

It was only seven kilometres deep and within five kilometres of the city.

It's the second moderate quake this weekend.

GNS seismologist Caroline Little says projections show the region's earthquake activity could take another decade to settle.

She says they're expecting at least one magnitude 5 quake before the year is over.
