A coroner's investigation into the 2015 death of a Christchurch man found he was killed by fumes from his portable LPG heater.
Master Plumbers chief executive Greg Wallace says they're very popular as a source of cheap heating - but they're dangerous.
He says they're banned in many countries because there's just too much risk.
