The Real Estate Institute of New Zealand has released its latest property sale statistics.
It found an increase in the average selling price across the country in the past year - up 4.5 percent to 575 thousand dollars.
Chief Executive Bindi Norwell says Otago, Southland and Manawatu all saw record price growth of more than 20 percent on this time last year.
She says they've seen strong growth in the regions for a while now - with often not enough houses to meet demand.
