Manawatu Police are appealing to the public to help them track down three men on the run

The trio fled from Levin District Court yesterday, allegedly helped by a man who restrained a police officer.

They then hijacked a stranger's car and made him drive away.

Area Commander Inspector Sarah Stewart says they're urging anyone with information to come forward.

She says with the help of the public and their associates - she's certain they can catch the men.

Stewart says the men don't pose a threat to the public but should not be approached.

The men were in custody on various violence and driving charges.
