The last Kaikoura homeowners affected by the 2016 earthquakes... should be home by Christmas

Kaikoura District Council is completing the final work remediating rock fall and natural hazards at 10 properties.

Homeowners were offered the choice to leave their homes or have rockfall hazards fixed.

Council CE, Angela Oosthuizen, says getting to this final stage has been a long and complex process.

She says property owners have faced three-years of uncertainty and for some - it's been a tough time financially.
