The Mako trailed for much of the match, but managed two late tries to complete a 21-17 win to remain unbeaten.
It's Tasman's first win by less than 10 points this season.
Assistant coach Gray Cornelius says while you don't want close games, it was a good learning curve.
Tasman remain top of the Premiership table, seven points ahead of second-placed Wellington.
