    A boost for the hopes of a new Melling interchange in Lower Hutt


    NZTA's joined Hutt City and Wellington Regional councils in agreeing to fast-track a 5.6-million dollar resource consent application for the project.

    It would see traffic lights at the busy State Highway Two intersection removed - to make way for an overpass allowing free-flowing traffic.

    No construction funding has yet been guaranteed for the project to begin for at least the next decade.
