Commercial catch limits for tarakihi will be reduced by a further 10 percent
27 September 2019
That's on top of a 20 percent reduction, after a review of catch limits and management which started last year.
Fisheries Minister Stuart Nash says tarakihi numbers in the east coast are very low.
He also wants on-board cameras in some tarakihi management areas, providing coverage of a significant majority of catch by the end of next year.
This year's review of 20 fish stocks has resulted in reductions for seven fisheries, increases for nine - and four will remain the same.
Decisions apply to the fishing year starting on October 1.
