Auckland Health authorities have confirmed five pregnant women have had measles - with two of them losing their foetuses.
So far this year there have been nearly 16-hundred cases nationwide, with just over 13-hundred of those in Auckland.
Immunisation Advisory Centre director Dr Nikki Turner says there needs to be a national campaign.
She says the campaign would try to find people who have not had the appropriate vaccination and offer it to them.
