A Christchurch man who sexually assaulted two women in a dark cemetery has avoided jail
2 October 2019
28-year-old Richard Manoa Edwards pleaded guilty earlier - and was sentenced today in the Christchurch District Court for the indecent assaults - during which the women thought they would be killed.
The court heard the women were working in the red light district of Manchester Street - when Edwards picked them up in his car.
He later refused to release them - instead driving them to a cemetery and sexually assaulting them.
Edwards was sentenced to five months home detention - and made to pay each victim reparations.
