New Zealanders appear to be having headaches when it comes to choosing electricity plans

A pilot scheme is being introduced to help customers who haven't switched power providers, so they can shop around for better deals.
Tim Rudkin from consumer group One Big Switch says there are too many plans for consumers to choose from - making it difficult to know if they've got the best deal.
He says customers need to be more proactive when choosing plans.
He says there around 29 lines companies, 40 retailers and many different metre types to choose from.
