    2008 Olympic champion Jan Frodeno has claimed the ironman world championship in a new record in Hawaii


    The German crossed in a time of seven hours, 51 minutes and 13 seconds.

    Compatriot Anne Haug took out the women's race.

    Braden Currie posted one of the day's fastest marathon splits to finish seventh.

    Current Ironman New Zealand champion Mike Phillips came 39th.
