White Ferns captain Amy Satterthwaite has ascended to the top of the world batting rankings, despite being on maternity leave

The 33-year-old's scored 346 runs in six one-day international innings this year.

India opener Smriti Mandhana held the No.1 spot at the last update but missed the recent three-match series against South Africa with a toe injury.

Due to a quirk in the ICC rankings, she's dropped four points behind Satterthwaite.
