Overseas studies have found the immune systems of unvaccinated children who contract measles suffer for years

In one study, scientists found up to 73 percent of the immune system was still wiped out, even two months after they had the infection.
University of Otago Professor of Public Health Michael Baker says it's just another reason to immunise.
He says another study found measles also makes you more vulnerable to influenza, because it affects the B cells which are critical to the immune system.
