The Bay of Plenty hospitality industry is booming ... but businesses are struggling to find skilled staff

Restaurant Association figures show sales revenues in the region have jumped 38 million dollars in one year.

The organisation says it's being driven by rising numbers of international visitors and more residents choosing to eat out.

While staff numbers have also climbed, it's not happening quickly enough.

The Restaurant Association says some businesses are having to cut down their trading hours - and others say if the skill shortages get worse they may need to close.
