Further details on a University of Canterbury student found dead in his uni accommodation

19-year-old commerce student, Mason Pendrous, wasn't discovered until September 23 in his room in Sonoda Residential halls in Ilam.

Coroner Sue Johnson agrees with a forensic pathologist's finding he had been dead at least two to four weeks before being discovered.

Police Constable and inquest officer, Robert Stokes, says the student was last seen entering the accommodation six weeks before his body was found.

He says Pendrous wasn't seen coming or going on photo records for a fortnight after that.

No cause of death has yet been established and investigations are ongoing.
