Life in prison for a Lower Hutt man for his involvement in a drug robbery murder

Life in prison for a Lower Hutt man for his involvement in a drug robbery murder

Falcon Samuels was handed the sentence, with a minimum imprisonment of 17 years, at Wellington's High Court.

A jury found the 30-year-old guilty of shooting Paul Te Hiko at a Wainuiomata subdivision in March last year, when he and associates went to steal drugs.

Justice Francis Cooke said it was premeditated gang related offending.

He said Samuels had 105 previous convictions, and had had an upbringing of hardship and disadvantage where crime was normalised.
