24-year-old Kalani Purcell is the youngest ever permanent captain of the women's national side.
The leadership baton was passed to her by her sister, Natalie Taylor.
Purcell won a players vote for the captaincy role and Molloy says she's been terrific so far.
The Tall Ferns take on China tonight in the next match of their Olympic qualifying tournament.
Tip off's at 5:30pm, with a win all but guaranteeing them a spot at the next qualifying tournament.
