It's fast becoming the new Queenstown

OneRoof reports the Mackenzie district has the country's fastest growing property market... with homes now five times more valuable than two decades ago.

Mackenzie is the gateway to Mount Cook, and has surpassed Queenstown as the destination with the most guests per head of population.

Deputy mayor James Leslie says houses are being snapped up for visitor accommodation... which is pricing local workers out of the market.
