A Hawke's Bay mobster who made international headlines has been convicted of assault

A Hawke's Bay mobster who made international headlines has been convicted of assault

Poutawa Whiti Kireka is best known for his black and red facial tattoo spelling out 'notorious'.

The Mongrel Mob member claimed earlier this year he wanted to turn his life around after previous jail stints.

He claimed he was studying sport and recreation but was struggling to get a job because of his tattoo.

Now Kireka is awaiting sentencing after he chased down his partner and struck her in the face, breaking her nose.
