Northland motorists are being urged to drive with caution following a spate of accidents involving electricity assets

The region's lines companies Top Energy and Northpower have reported 51 incidents since December last year.
Fifty of them involved vehicles hitting power poles.
Just last week a car took out a power pole, causing a substantial scrub fire and cutting power to a thousand consumers.
Drivers are being asked to slow down and be more observant of potential roadside hazards.
