Midwives are worried the closure of several maternity units around the country will put mothers and babies at risk

Some centres have shut for the holiday period, while others have been closed for a longer period.
Opotiki midwife Lisa Kelly says the birthing centre there has been closed for three months.
She says they've had a few close calls with women in town needing to get to Whakatane to give birth.
She says they had to rush one woman there at such speed they had a police escort, and the baby was delivered 10 minutes after they arrived at the hospital.
