34-year-old Bella Te Pania was found critically injured near Christchurch Airport on Tuesday morning and died a short time later.
Detectives are trying to find two of her belongings that may have been thrown away on the day.
They're a small, light brown, shimmery bag - and a black Huawei cell phone with a cracked screen.
A man accused of murdering Te Pania will appear in the High Court at Christchurch in February.
