West Coast hospital workers have been left struggling in a substandard building - with substandard equipment

West Coast hospital workers have been left struggling in a substandard building - with substandard equipment

National's local spokesperson Maureen Pugh has asked the Prime Minister to intervene in negotiations around the Grey Hospital rebuild.

Pugh says the new building was supposed to open in 2018 - but a standoff between the Ministry of Health and Fletcher Construction means there's no opening date in sight.

Greymouth Mayor Tania Gibson says the old hospital hasn't been maintained - and their people deserve better.

She says staff are doing the best they can with what they have - but they need the new facilities and technology as soon as possible.
