Police are urging gang members to be mindful of children

There were two gang-related incidents on the North Island East Coast over the weekend - a drive-by shooting in Ruatoria, and a mass brawl in Napier's Taradale that included a shooting and the near miss of a child.

Eastern District Commander Superintendent Tania Kura says young children should be kept away from danger.

She says it's horrendous to hear of gang members taking their children to events... with weapons in the car.
