A lucky escape for two Christchurch households overnight

A lucky escape for two Christchurch households overnight

Emergency services were called to a blaze on Owles Terrace in New Brighton just before 4am.

The cause of the blaze remains unknown but it's understood to have broken out in the roof space.

Meanwhile crews are still at the scene of a blaze on Fenchurch Street in Northcote.

A spokesman says the single story house was well ablaze when firefighters arrived.

The occupants of both houses were able to get out in time and there are no reports of injuries at this stage.
