A staffing shortage is creating long delays for children needing specialist mental health care

There are now fewer support therapy groups on offer, as DHBs struggle to find psychiatrists, psychologists and nursing staff.
Documents reveal the vacancy rate at Te Puawaitanga, the child and adolescent mental health team for south Manukau and Franklin, reached 62 percent late last year and now sits at 45 percent.
Acting clinical director for mental health and addictions, Clive Bensemann, say no children have come to harm because of the delays.
But he says some kids are probably waiting months and that's not good enough.
