Jessica Breeze admitted stabbing Colin Brady with the longest kitchen knife in the house in June last year.
She wept as she was found not guilty of the charges after a trial at Teesside Crown Court in Middlesbrough.
The jury accepted she acted in self defence after her father punched and spat at Breeze and his partner and threatened to kill them.
Brady had a history of domestic violence and previous convictions, including grievous bodily harm with intent.
