Another financial success for New Zealand sailing great and Sail GP boss Sir Russell Coutts

The yachting franchise has sold a minority stake to sports and entertainment group Endeavor in a deal which values the fledgling event at $309 million.

SailGP's second season starts at the end of the month in Sydney.

The regatta has teams race in identical foiling catamarans and culminates in a $1.5 million winner-takes-all match race.
