The vehicle fire in Brisbane has claimed a fifth life

Hannah Baxter has died in hospital ... hours after her husband and three children perished in the same incident.

Rowan Baxter was originally from Tauranga and had been a member of the Warriors wider squad in 2005.

The 42-year-old was inside the vehicle, alongside his wife and their children before it went up in flames in Brisbane's east yesterday morning.

Queensland Ambulance Service senior operations supervisor Adrian Tong says the scene was horrific.

One man tried to help them as the flames took hold of the vehicle:



The couple had been in a custody battle ... and a witness said Hannah Baxter was seen leaping from the car - screaming "he's poured petrol on me."
