The Dow Jones has tumbled three thousand points, its worst one-day loss.
From the New York Stock Exchange, CNN's Alison Kosik says the fall followed Donald Trump's speech, in which he said the outbreak could last to July or August.
She says that's despite the Federal Reserve enacting various monetary policies.
Kosik says investors want to see the number of coronavirus cases peak - then fall.
