A man in his 40s has died at a Wellington lodge after battling flu-like symptoms

A man in his 40s has died at a Wellington lodge after battling flu-like symptoms

Police were called to the Pickled Parrot Lodge in Newtown about 8.30 last night, after reports of the sudden death.

Lodge owner Matthew Wright says the man had suffered from health issues for a number of years, and he believes the man suffered a heart attack.

He says the lodge is a long-term accommodation service, and is unaware of any guests travelling overseas recently.

Health officials wouldn't be drawn on whether the incident is Covid-related, but said any updates would be provided at today's 1pm press conference.
