Spit is being looked at as a potentially safer, and less invasive, Covid-19 testing option

Currently medical staff carry out an invasive nasal swab, but research from the Yale Public Health School suggests saliva testing could enable at-home testing.
Otago University infectious disease expert David Murdoch says it would be very easy as people would simply need to spit into a sterile cup.
He says home testing would take some pressures off healthcare workers because they won't necessarily need to be there, using personal protective equipment - to collect samples.
