Website Cricinfo reports authorities will consider the possibility of ball tampering, in a bid to stop the usual use of saliva and potential spread of covid-19.
That would mean allowing the use of artificial substances to help polish the red ball under the supervision of umpires in long-form matches.
Tampering is currently illegal, which has previously resulted in fines or even bans.
The shining or alternatively roughing of a ball allows for it to swing through the air.
