Praise for the crew onboard a Waiheke Island to Auckland ferry, who helped a mother give birth to her baby

It's the second time in six months a baby has been born on the service.

Fullers Fleet Operations Manager Megan Watson says the Friday night delivery is a heartwarming occasion in uncertain times.

She says staff are trained to provide assistance and support in situations like this, and she's proud of how they supported the passenger and her midwife who were on their way to Auckland Hospital.

The company has been operating a reduced service during the lockdown for essential workers who work in Auckland and emergencies.
