Those who tested positive had worked on a ward where covid-19 patients from St Margaret's Hospital and Rest Home had been transferred too.
The DHB says an urgent review is in progress to understand how and where the infection may have occurred.
They say staff were wearing personal protective equipment when dealing with covid patients.
The DHB has closed affected areas at Waitakere Hospital to further admissions and is considering other precautionary measures for patients in those wards who may have come in contact with covid positive staff members.
