FIFA will temporarily allow teams to make up to five substitutions per match to help cope with potential fixture congestion
9 May 2020
Football leagues around the world are devising ways to finish their respective competitions, with most expected to require teams to play several times a week.
Currently just three substitutions are permitted per game.
The rule change has been created in the interest of player welfare.
The substitutions will have to be made in three allocated slots, or the halftime interval, to prevent multiple disruptions to the game.
